Job Description Summary
The Major Component Exchange (MCE) Leader will be responsible for the large component replacement, Specialized repair, Uptower repair as well as maintenance of wind turbine generators. This can include repairs (both returns and field), technical support or a field service or other service request Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (safety, quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Roles and Responsibilities
Build strategy on MCE / Uptower execution for sub-region
Evaluate and coordinate on Crane, Tooling, Lifting and Resources for smoother execution.
Drive actions to ensure the global standard hrs are achieved in region on MCE / Uptower execution and overall job costs (labor + materials) are driven down year over year.
Leverage and share best practices and lesson learning between other regions and subregions.
Coordinate with parts team for building inventory and availability of parts.
Evaluate CMS anomalies and drive timely actions.
Review and follow EHS policies, and procedures applicable for execution of major component replacement and uptower works
Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
Troubleshoot complicated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch / variable speed turbines
Certification and maintenance of major component / uptower tooling.
Coordinate between sites , FRO, Warehouse & Tooling.
Review GE WDI / Procedures, Provide feedback and apply effectively for field execution.
Coordinate with regional MCE team on training and knowledge sharing across sub -region.
Help in all areas of site preparation (coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision
Document all work performed using computer based service reporting procedures
Communicate site status to engineers, customers, and management
Complete all required EHS Training and adapt best EHS practices.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s or Technical Degree in Engineering Mechanical or Electrical from an accredited college or university
More than 10 years experience with minimum of 5 years in Wind Energy field
Proficient in fault finding lifting,electrical, mechanical and hydraulic equipment, or within their specialized area of expertise.
Experience in overall wind farm operations and maintenance, installation and heavy lift main component exchange.
Skilled in using MS Office software tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Analytical & data manipulation/mining skills … advanced Excel skills (pivot tables), Access, Tableau, etc.
Desired Characteristics:
Experience in wind turbine component repairs, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 90% of the time, as required
Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind Farm
Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision
Ability and willingness to read, interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
Experience using hydraulic power tools
Experience with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
Proficient computers skills in Excel, Word, Web Tools
Strong customer service mindset
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions
Demonstrate strong proactive approach.
Demonstrate commitment for cost reduction and process improvement on fault handling.
Ability to coordinate with several program teams simultaneously.
High degree of flexibility to work with different time zone.
